Nexen Tire organized a grand event to mark the official opening of its new factory in Zatec, Czech Republic. The Zatec plant is the company’s second factory that is located outside Korea and had commenced operations in April 2019.
The event was attended by over 300 guests, including eminent dignitaries and senior Nexen officials like the company’s global CEO, Travis Kang; Petr Ocko, deputy minister of industry and trade of the Czech Republic; Oldrich Bubenicek, governor of the Usti nad Labem region; Moon Seoung-hyun, ambassador of South Korea to the Czech Republic; Zadetz Zdenka Hamousova, Zatec’s mayor as well as members of the local press, the company’s business partners construction staff and employees.
Speaking at the ceremony Travis Kang, global CEO of Nexen Tire said that the opening of the factory in Europe will help Nexen Tire to boost its efficiency and respond faster to the needs of auto makers based in Europe. He said that Nexen recognized the importance of being closer to its customers and thus set up a production base that would make it possible to respond to their needs in a faster and more flexible manner.
He added, “As Korea’s leading manufacturer with a 77-year history of knowledge and technology in the tire industry, we plan to increase global production capacity, going beyond the challenges and making big steps in the global tire industry.”
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guests who attended the event toured the plant and were introduced to the smart factory concept, which is expected to lead to zero defects in production.
The factory will make it possible for Nexen to gain access to Europe’s largest markets including Germany, France and the UK.
