Daimler has reorganized the company structure to form three subsidiaries with the goal of increasing the group’s flexibility and strengthening its customer focus. The parent company will deal with all aspects of governance, strategy and control. As part of the reorganization, Daimler will separate its passenger-vehicle and light-commercial-vehicle business units from its commercial bus and truck company.
After the reorganization, there will be three legally independent companies which will operate under the supervision of the parent company Daimler AG from the beginning of November. The three subsidiary companies are Mercedes-Benz AG, Daimler Truck AG and Daimler Financial Services. Mercedes-Benz AG will deal with Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Daimler Truck AG will specialize in the Daimler truck and bus activities. Daimler Financial Services has been an independent company for many years. It was renamed as Daimler Mobility AG in July and will henceforth deal with mobility services for the entire group.
Commenting on the reorganization, Ola Källenius, chairman of the board of management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, said that two years before, Daimler had launched Project Future with the goal of setting in motion a forward-looking structural transformation in the company. Now, the three independent entities will function under one roof. The new structure is meant to make Daimler more focused and competitive so that it transforms successfully into the era of future mobility with a sustainable business strategy.
He concluded, “It is crucial that we focus on our customers and inspire them with exciting and innovative products and technologies.”
