As part of its drive to build a permission-less mobility ecosystem, the IOTA Foundation just started a one week Google Design Sprint with Audi Denkwerkstatt. IOTA is a new Distributed Ledger technology that offers many benefits which are similar to blockchain technologies like use of a shared identity and trust associated with belonging to the same network. The technology is used to create a ledger of data that is then stored across a widespread network. The IOTA Tangle is a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) or open source protocol that can facilitate machine to machine interface, secure transfer of data, can scale up and has no transaction fees. Tangle is seen as the ideal fit for the Internet of Things (IoT) due to its off-line capabilities.
Audi Denkwerkstatt is Audi’s Think Tank which is based in Berlin and comprises seven Audi employees who lend their support to 15 colleagues from Audi who are drawn from all business areas, age groups and levels for the purpose of investigating innovative ideas related to future mobility. IOTA and the team from Audi will work further on the use of Tangle, try and build a low-level prototype and see how customers respond to it.
The Audi Denkwerkstatt team consists of seven Audi employees who support 15 colleagues from all business areas, levels and age groups in generating, validating and implementing ideas about premium mobility within six months. The team will work on the development of business models either independently or in collaboration with others.
Thus IOTA might be able to use Audi’s expertise and can maybe get Tangle integrated into a new mobility solution with expertise from Audi while Audi will emerge as a frontrunner in shared mobility if the collaboration proves to be fruitful.
