Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso: The Red-Hot Concept That Shows Where the Brand Is Heading

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Cuorerosso, a 2+2 coupé concept in a colour-shifting red, at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. It is not a preview of one production car. Alfa calls it a manifesto for the design, technology and multi-energy powertrains of its future models, which will be up to 4.7 metres long.

What the Cuorerosso is

The name means “red heart”. It combines red, which Alfa links with passion and performance, and the heart, which stands for the emotional bond between car and driver. Alfa says the concept is neither a preview of a production model nor just a styling exercise. It is a statement of the direction the brand intends to take in the electrified era, and it will be on show in Hall 4 at Paris Expo from 12 to 18 October.

Size and shape

  • Layout: 2+2 coupé
  • Length: 4,700 mm
  • Width: 1,980 mm
  • Height: 1,331 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,930 mm
  • Weight: 1,750 kg
  • Drag coefficient: 0.28

Alfa’s Centro Stile in Turin modelled the car as a single block and removed everything unnecessary until the form emerged, an approach the brand calls “Bellezza Necessaria”, or necessary beauty. The result is a continuous, sculpted body with a truncated tail, a signature Alfa feature, and a low diffuser built into the bodywork.

Liquid Ink Red

The paint, called Liquid Ink Red, combines a fine aluminium base with a coloured transparent layer. In the light it looks like liquid metal or glowing lava, and from some angles it shifts to black.

Design details

  • Front: the traditional three-part Trilobo face, with the Scudetto grille reinterpreted as a weave of small backlit triangles that echo the Cross and the Biscione. The light pulses like a heartbeat.
  • Doors: no handles. The doors open with a touch control on the roof, and the rear doors are hinged at the back.
  • Rear: a Scudetto-shaped rear window and two circular lights in the truncated tail
  • Wheels: forged wheels that reinterpret Alfa’s classic “telephone” design with Scudetto-shaped openings
  • Performance hardware: air suspension and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with Alfa Romeo calipers, plus the Quadrifoglio badge

Inside

The dashboard takes its architecture from the 1967 33 Stradale and its new namesake. The driver faces the “Cannocchiale Vivente”, a moving instrument cluster with two layouts. In “Immersivo” mode it keeps the traditional two-part design, and in “Concentrato” the two parts merge into one for a racing-style view. As driving becomes more intense, it shows less information. Alfa says the idea could develop on Stellantis’ STLA SmartCockpit platform.

  • Three driving experiences: Cruise, Sport and Quadrifoglio
  • Steer-by-wire steering, with physical feedback from the controls
  • A “Magma Display” on the centre tunnel, combining a touch surface with rotary and toggle controls
  • Poltrona Frau nubuck, a regenerated leather with 60% post-industrial waste, and a lightweight dashboard fabric developed with Luna Rossa from technical sailing clothing
  • A removable bag built into the passenger side of the dashboard

Powertrains and production

Alfa says its future line-up will be multi-energy, with full-electric, plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid and full-hybrid options, in models up to 4.7 metres long that could include Quadrifoglio versions. For performance, it describes a 2.9-litre V6 full hybrid with Q4 all-wheel drive as the kind of setup the concept can be imagined with. It has not confirmed the Cuorerosso’s actual powertrain and has announced no production plans or launch date.

Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO Santo Ficili said the concept carries the brand’s identity into a future open to different energy solutions, always focused on emotion and the pleasure of driving.

What it means for UAE fans

The Cuorerosso is a show car and is not for sale. For Alfa fans in the UAE, it signals the look and feel of the road cars to come, though Alfa has not said which models or when. Regional plans haven’t been announced.
