Hella, the renowned lighting solutions supplier has expanded its production presence in China by setting up a new plant. The new plant will be set up through Hella-BHAP Lighting, the company’s joint venture with Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co. Ltd. The factory will be located in Wuqing in Tianjin province in China and is slated to commence production in October 2017. Once the plant becomes operational, its output will mainly cater to customers of the BAIC Group, like BBAC and BAIC Motor, as well as other other automotive manufacturers based in China.
Commenting on the new plant, Dr. Rolf Breidenbach, CEO of Hella, stated that with BHAP, the company had a highly trusted locally based partner on its side in its quest to provide innovative lighting products to its Chinese customers and to continue its growth story in the Chinese automotive market.
BHAP President Mr. Chen Bao said that the new milestone in his company’s partnership with Hella would allow the company to provide companies belonging to the BAIC Group with the latest lighting technology. Lighting is an extremely important area for all automotive manufacturers as it contributes significantly to safety, energy efficiency and styling.
Initially, the new factory will have 250 employees and have a production area spread over about 12, 000 square meters. It will have an annual production capacity for 1.2 million headlamps. Eventually, the modular design of the plant will allow for tripling of the production space so that it can be used for the manufacture of all kinds of lighting products.
