BASF bagged the 2017 FCA US LLC Sustainability Supplier of the Year award. The company is winning the award for the second time. The winners of the award were selected on the basis of several strict criteria including the performance of a supplier in terms of cost, quality, delivery, partnership and warranty as well as feedback from the senior team at FCA. BASF was also singled out for the company’s strong sustainability strategy, goals, and programs, which served to differentiate the company from others.
Another aspect that the FCA senior leadership highlighted was BASF’s willingness to share best practices, key insights, and knowledge. In 2016, BASF had partnered with FCA US in hosting the first Responsible Sourcing workshop with the goal of promoting awareness of the need for sustainability along the supply chain. The workshop served as a platform to bring together over 40 Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to discuss sustainability strategies and develop action plans.
Commenting on the award for BASF, Scott Thiele, Chief Purchasing Officer, FCA – Global said that the company was honoring those who continued to fuel FCA’s momentum by providing it with not only the best ideas and cutting-edge technologies, but also made it a point to consistently exceed FCA’s expectations.
“BASF and FCA’s ongoing collaboration enables our commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Nader Mahmoud, Vice-President, Market and Business Development North America at BASF. “This award is an outstanding representation of our partnership as we continue to share best practices and progress between our sustainability teams.”
Representatives from BASF accepted the award at a ceremony which was held in Detroit on May 2.
