Cooper Tire Wins Two Global 2019 GOOD DESIGN® Awards

Cooper Tire has announced that the company has received the 2019 Good Design awards for its  Evolution M/T and its Discoverer ATT. The Evolution M/T is a mud tire that was designed for use in North America, while the Discoverer ATT was conceptualized as an all-terrain tire for Asia. The Good Design awards are one of the most renowned design awards in the world and are awarded jointly every year by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies for their design excellence. The awards are meant to recognize the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product and graphic designs and entries are received from all around the world. The winners of the award are chosen based on very stringent criteria related to innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, energy efficiency and sensitivity to the environment.  The Cooper tires which won the award were chosen from over 900 entries received from almost 50 countries.

Commenting on the Good Design awards, Andrea Berryman, Director – Product Management for North America said that the GOOD DESIGN attest to Cooper’s product design capabilities. She added that the Evolution M/T was developed as extremely durable, high performing mud tire to give drivers the confidence to power through mud and tackle dirt roads. It a tire that was truly worthy of this recognition.

The Evolution M/T is a key product in Cooper’s North American off-road tire range and features large blocks with alternating mud scoops having the capability to forcefully dig into loose dirt, sand or sticky mud. It also has wide trenches to clear mud from the tire. The specially-designed sidewalls include “climbers” that grab onto rocks and sticks, thus providing strong resistance to rubbing, while stone barrier ridges give protection against damage from sharp rocks and expel lodged stones.

The Discoverer ATT is a tire that provides a quiet ride on urban roads while also offering impressive off-road performance.

Sue Zhu, Product Director, Cooper Tire Asia said that the tire is a cross between a classic sport utility vehicle tire and an all-terrain tire. Its most notable features are an innovative groove shape and corrugated sipes which serve as a sound barrier that reduces road noise for a quieter ride. It also has the capability to eject stones and gravel for enhanced traction. She said Cooper was pleased to be recognized for this popular tire.
