Jaguar has officially unveiled the Type 01, a four-door electric grand tourer that kicks off a new generation of Jaguar vehicles. With more than 1,000 PS and a 400-mile EPA range, it is the most powerful and technologically advanced car in the brand’s history. Orders open in early 2027.
Jaguar revealed the Type 01 in New York on 6 October 2026. The reveal included large digital displays in Times Square, DUMBO and the Lower East Side, followed by an event at STORIED in West Chelsea. Jaguar calls the launch the most significant moment in its modern history since the name was established in 1935.
The Type 01 is the first production Jaguar built on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a platform developed only for the brand’s new electric vehicles. Jaguar says it is also the most aerodynamic Jaguar road car it has made.
Jaguar describes the Type 01 as a luxury four-door GT with a low roofline, a long bonnet and a sleek silhouette. Its design was developed from a single line drawn at the start of the programme. Jaguar links its lineage to the E-type and the XJS.
“Type” refers to Jaguar’s iconic predecessors, the zero stands for zero tailpipe emissions, and the one marks the first car of a new generation.
Orders open in early 2027, and the first customer deliveries are expected in the second half of the year. The car is designed, developed and built in the United Kingdom. Jaguar has not published pricing. Trade press reports a starting price of around £130,000 (approximately $173,000 or approximately AED 635,000), but that is unconfirmed.
Jaguar has not announced Middle East availability or regional pricing for the Type 01. If it arrives here, it would compete with grand tourers such as the Porsche Taycan and the Mercedes-Benz EQS, both popular with UAE buyers. Regional details will need to come from Jaguar’s UAE channels.
