Lucid has announced Air UX 3.0, a significant software update for the Lucid Air that redesigns the car’s controls, navigation, and multitasking, borrowing design cues from its newer Gravity SUV. The update rolls out over-the-air starting late September 2026, with a hardware upgrade path for older Air models that can’t get it as a simple software push.
Air UX 3.0 is built around making frequently used features easier to reach rather than buried in menus. The update introduces a redesigned home screen on the driver-facing Cockpit Panel, with swipeable cards for media, calls, saved destinations, and nearby charging stops. When a feature is active, a temporary card appears right on the home screen, and a simple swipe opens the full app on the passenger-facing Pilot Panel.
A new Quick Controls panel lets drivers swipe down from the top of the screen to reach commonly used settings instantly, similar in spirit to a smartphone’s control centre. Lucid says switching between navigation, media, vehicle controls, and apps across both screens should also feel noticeably smoother.
The update brings faster profile switching between drivers, more control for the primary account holder over linked keys, and a simpler way to reset a Guest profile, now protected by a PIN-based exit process and six-digit authentication for extra security.
On the navigation side, EV routing becomes more customisable: drivers can set preferences around specific charging networks, adapter compatibility, and the minimum range they want left when arriving at a destination, useful for longer drives where charger availability varies. The dual-screen navigation experience also adds Favourites and an Auto Dark Mode.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both get a notable upgrade, expanding across the entire right side of the Cockpit Display for a larger, more usable phone interface covering calls, music, directions, and messages. Both wired and wireless connections are supported.
Air UX 3.0 began rolling out over-the-air to eligible Lucid Air vehicles on 29 September 2026, automatically included with Software Version 2.11.0 for model year 2025 and newer cars. Owners of 2022, 2023, and some 2024 Air models will need a hardware upgrade to the infotainment processor to access the new experience, priced at $950 in the United States, including installation. Pricing for other markets, including the Middle East, hasn’t been announced yet, so Lucid owners here will need to check with Lucid Customer Care directly for local availability and cost.
Lucid’s connection to this region runs deeper than just sales. The company assembles vehicles at a dedicated facility in Saudi Arabia alongside its original Arizona plant, making it one of the more locally rooted EV brands operating in the Gulf rather than a purely import-only player. For Lucid Air owners across the UAE and wider region, a major usability-focused software update like this is a reminder that the car keeps evolving well after purchase, something increasingly central to how software-defined vehicles are marketed and sold.
