Valeo Teams up with Docomo for Connected Car

Valeo has decided to team up with Docomo for connected car services. The two market leaders launched their project to develop and deploy such services on April 13. Docomo is one of the leading players when it comes to the promoting the usage and promotion of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the automotive sector by pushing for the development of 5G mobile communication network. If things go as planned, 5 G networks and mobile networks like the IoT will be available commercially by 2020.

Valeo is highly active when it comes to three key trends that are currently shaping the automotive industry – autonomous driving technology and connected vehicles, electrification, and digital mobility.

As part of the partnership between the two companies, both Valeo and Docomo will contribute their expertise and solutions in their respective fields to help develop telecommunication services and on-board equipment for connected cars. These will include next-generation mobility services like 5G and V2X* (vehicle to everything), digital services for cars using smart phones, and enhanced controls for on-board equipment.

The two firms will collaborate on the development of innovative products and solutions and will gradually offer new mobility services for connected cars, in order to ramp up ride comfort and connectivity and thus contribute to the quality of the ride.
