Tata Motors has revealed that the Nexon EV that it plans to launch shortly in 2020 will come with a battery pack that offers more peace of mind to its customers with its segment leading eight-year warranty. The battery is an important component in the case of an electric vehicle and a battery that needs frequent maintenance or replacement can prove to be costly in the long run. The eight-year warranty means that the car’s buyers will have greater peace of mind regarding any potential battery issues.
The Nexon SUV will have a Lithium-ion battery pack that is protected an IP67 level compatible system. It will be liquid cooled and will be compatible with all fast charging systems to offer motorists more options when it comes to charging. Tata Motors did not divulge details about the capacity of the battery pack, but did reveal that the vehicle would offer a driving range of about 300 kilometers.
The automotive manufacturer also revealed that the car would be front wheel-drive and be powered by a permanent magnet AC motor. The company released an image of the electronic control unit and said that it would be water cooled.
The Nexon would be an advanced vehicle in terms of connectivity with an array of over 30 connected car technologies which will include both location based services as well car monitoring systems.
Tata Motors released several teaser videos which depicted the Nexon EV being tested in multiple weather conditions and surfaces including a water wading test. The company will also be using its new Ziptron technology in the Nexon SUV.
