Denso Corporation has acquired a 2 percent equity stake in eSOL Co. e-SOL specializes in the development of real-time embedded software solutions. Denso plans to leverage eSOL’s technological expertise to expedite the development of software for the systems and products that are needed for automated driving.
Denso has ambitious plans to become a key player in the future of mobility by developing in-vehicle electronic software, electronic systems, and electronic platforms. All these technologies would be used in connected and automated driving.
In order to enhance the performance of automated driving and the usage of external data for safety, in-vehicle electronic products should be integrated so that they offer seamless control of the entire vehicle system. In-vehicle systems have become more complex over the years, and it will be necessary to update, rewrite or add software on a regular basis to coordinate with new electronic systems and electronic control units for automated driving.
Denso will team up with eSOL for rapid software development and the two companies will work on development of next-generation electronic platforms through a technology advisor arrangement and personnel exchange.
eSOL was established in 1975, and the company is the premium partner of AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture). AUTOSAR is a consortium of automakers and suppliers that works on the standardization of automotive software platforms. In 2016, Denso established a joint venture, AUBASS Co, with eSOL and NEC Communication Systems, to enable automakers to use complex in-vehicle software.
