Brembo, which is one of the top manufacturers of braking systems and components has announced that Daniel Schillaci will be the new CEO of the company from July 1, 2019. He will be taking over from the current CEO, Andrea Abbati Marescotti who is leaving Brembo to pursue new professional projects and activities.
Brembo’s chairman Alberto Bombassei and its board of directors expressed their highest level of appreciation for Marescotti for his services to the company and went on to wish him the very best for his future.
Commenting on the appointment, Brembo’s executive vice-chairman, Matteo Tiraboschi, said that he learned with regret about Andrea’s decision to leave Brembo after eight years at the helm. He added that during his stint with Brembo, Andrea had ensured the constant growth of Brembo’s turnover across all markets, the expansion of its industrial footprint and the achievement of all of its business objectives. He went on to thank Andrea and wish him the very best for his future activities.
From July 1, 2019, Daniele Schillaci will be in the position of CEO, and will report to the executive vice-chairman Matteo Tiraboschi.
Schillaci completed his degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering at Milan’s Politecnico in 1993, is a veteran of the automotive industry with over 25 years of experience. He initially joined Renault and then moved to Alfa Romeo as Brand Manager at Fiat Auto, before he moved to Toyota and assumed increasingly senior roles. He covered the Spain and France markets until he was appointed as senior vice-president, Sales & Marketing Toyota Europe.
From July 2015, he was the executive vice-president and executive committee member of Nissan Motor Corporation, and was based in Japan with his designation being ‘head of global sales and marketing and electric vehicles’ for all of Nissan’s brands – Nissan, Datsun, Infiniti. He specifically focused on car production and market positioning. He also oversaw the Japan and Asia Region with responsibility for production, engineering, development, sales & marketing, finance and has led Nissan’s ‘Zero Emission Vehicles’ project.
Schillaci speaks four languages – French, Italian, English, and Spanish.

Alberto Bombassei, chairman, Brembo welcomed Daniele Schillaci to the Brembo team calling him an Italian manager who was returning to Italy with pride and passion after spending 20 years overseas. He said Brembo expected a lot from Schillaci with regard to helming the company’s future development. He expects the company to become stronger through both organic growth and external lines, by identifying new opportunities in expanding markets and in business areas that are synergic with the ones manned by Brembo.
