Bridgestone has opened a new factory for the production of radial OTR tires in Thailand. This is Bridgestone’s first such factory for the production of radial mining and construction tires outside Japan. The new factory is located in Amata City Industrial Estate in the Rayong Province of Thailand and covers an area of about 9,300,000 square feet.
The factory is being positioned as one of the company’s global supply bases, according to statements made by senior executives belonging to the company.
Commenting on the new factory, Masahiro Higashi, senior vice president and executive officer of Bridgestone Corporation said that Bridgestone would strive to contribute to Thailand’s economy and the local communities by developing high-quality and high-value-add tires for its customers in line with the Bridgestone Group’s mission ‘serving society with superior quality.
The plant will have a daily production capacity of approximately 35 tons and Bridgestone hopes to establish a more flexible production and supply system that will make it possible for the company to adapt and evolve in line with customer demand.
Bridgestone officially inaugurated the factory in October 2019 and the opening ceremony which was marked by formal ribbon-cutting was attended by Bridgestone’s executives, as well as dignitaries from Thailand and Japan.
