Aston Martin has selected Pirelli as its official technical partner to develop tires for its new all-electric Rapide E.
The two companies have revealed that like other Aston Martins models, the all-electric model will also have Pirelli P ZERO tires. Pirelli no longer makes generic P Zero tires, but instead makes these tires which are tailored specifically for each model. In the case of the new Aston Martin model, there will be different fitments for both axles: 245/35ZR21 (96Y) XL P ZERO ncs on the front and 295/30ZR21 (102Y) XL P ZERO ncs at the rear.
Pirelli’s engineering team is collaborating closely with the technical team at Aston Martin to refine the tire specifications for the Aston Martin model so that they are just the right fit and will act as the perfect complement for the new Aston Martin all-electric model which will be defined by its style, performance, and its zero-emission powertrain.
The Pirelli P ZERO™ tires that are used for the new Rapide E will be tasked with ensuring low rolling resistance. This factor is very important as it can have a significant impact on the longevity of the vehicle on one charge of battery. At the same time, the tires also have to be highly responsive to the demands of the vehicle and convey its high level of performance.
This balancing act is accomplished through the use of individually optimized tread patterns which will ensure that the rear axle exhibits performance that is high enough to manage the torque levels of the electric motors whilst on the front axle, the tires will maintain the low rolling resistance and precision wet weather performance.
The tires for the Rapide E will also come with the Pirelli Noise Cancelling System in order to minimize cavity noise. Their sound absorbing technology will reduce the frequency filtering through the car, and provide greater comfort compared to traditional tires.
Every Aston Martin model has a distinctive personality, and to highlight this fact, the Pirelli tires made for this Aston Martin Rapide E model will also carry the marking A4E on the sidewalls of the two different sized tires.
