Leading chemical company Llumar has developed a futuristic new technology that can make scratches and blemishes on the paintwork a thing of the past. Using the new product, it is possible to make any damage on the bodywork disappear within a matter of a few minutes.
The company has developed a new kind of thermoplastic urethane protective film and is supplying it to the paint protection firm Reep.
The product’s inventors claim that the film has the capacity to protect a vehicle from any kind of dent or scratch that can occur during your daily commute as long as the metalwork is not bent. That is a really big claim, but the inventors are highly confident about their product’s self-healing properties.
Ben Robinson, of Reep, said that the self-healing properties of the film ensures that it always returns to its natural shape.”
In view of the difference the use of such technology can make to the value of a car, it has immense potential. Reep is offering a seven-year warranty for the film and says the technology has been used for all kinds of cars ranging from popular hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf to supercars.
The inventors are hoping that eventually all cars are fitted with their film, as a standard practice, to reduce the huge amounts that people normally spend on repairing cosmetic bodywork damage.
