Continental used the AAPEX show that was held from November 1 to November 3 in Las Vegas to showcase two new aids for those involved in the automotive aftermarket business. The first product is a maintenance handbook for installers while the second is a catalog for timing belt kits.
According to Tom Lee, Continental’s marketing manager for North American aftermarket products, the maintenance handbook is positioned as a “Little Black Book” that professional repair technicians can use to explain to the customer in detail about problems that might occur under the hood and comes complete with objective data that can be used to support the technician’s explanation. It can be used as a sales tool that can help a technician to close a sale and customers too would prefer to have as much detail as possible.
The handbook which measures 5.5×7.5 inches has a number of illustrations to explain in greater detail about failures that can occur in hose, belts, tensioners and timing products. This information is supported with industry data from AAA and the Auto Care Association so that the technician can validate his diagnosis.
Continental’s new catalog for the Elite brand of timing kits includes the complete range of products that can be used for vehicles belonging to the model years from 1974 to 2016. The catalog covers all four series of Continental kits that Continental produces as well as the company’s range of timing belts, timing tensioners and idler pulleys. The information about all the products is highly detailed, with actual images to depict kit components. The catalog also has information about the company’s best-in-class guarantee mileage program a competitive interchange covering all major brands as well as a troubleshooting guide to help professional repair technicians to diagnose potential issues.
