Mercedes-AMG G.m.b.H. has opted for 19- and 20-inch variants of the Yokohama Advan Sport V105 tire as an OE fitment for the company’s E 53 4MATIC+ series. This series from the car tuning firm is a range that includes sedan, station wagon, coupe and cabriolet models.
Mercedes-AMG is the authorized subsidiary of Daimler-Benz A.G. which specializes in aftermarket tuning. The company had launched the E-Class 53-series globally in the summer of 2018 while the series was launched in the Japanese market in September 2018.
The vehicles belonging to the E 53 series are powered by an electrified 3-liter six-cylinder inline engine that AMG has developed which has an output of 429 hp. This engine is supported by a 48-volt electrical engine and is paired with AMG Performance’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.
AMG will be sourcing from Yokohama two sets of tires for the E 53 series — 245/40ZR19 (98Y) front and 275/35ZR19 (100Y) rear and 245/35ZR20 (95Y) front and 275/30ZR20 (97Y) rear. Yokohama has positioned the Advan Sport V105 as a high-performance tire that has been specifically developed for use on high-performance premium automobiles. The tire offers motorists “excellent” driving performance in addition to “superior” comfort and safety characteristics.
The tires that Yokohama is supplying to Mercedes-AMG are developed in collaboration with the car manufacturer and sport the company’s “MO” mark of approval on the sidewall, according to Yokohama.
