Goodyear Launches Two New OTR Tire Solutions

Goodyear has announced that it has developed two new digital solutions for those who use OTR tires in their fleets. These solutions can significantly help reduce the total cost of ownership.
Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Heavy Duty is a data-based solution that facilitates highly precise and real-time monitoring of tires. This solution can go a long way towards helping OTR fleets to reduce downtime, optimize tire performance and improve total cost of ownership.

Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty helps to prevent tire-related incidents with the end result being less downtime for vehicles and less breakdown costs. It comprises advanced telematics and patented predictive analytics technology that allows fleet operators to keep tabs on tire pressure and temperature and warns operators about any potential issues so that proactive action can be taken to minimize downtime and damage.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors which are mounted constantly monitor metrics like tire pressure and temperature. This information is transmitted through on-board telematics to a Goodyear server that analyzes the data and notifies operators of potential issues before they can reach the point where they cause damage. The data is also used to predict tire life and plan maintenance.

Goodyear has also come up with an enhanced version of its EMTrack OTR tire performance monitoring system. This new version facilitates faster and more accurate collection of critical tire metrics like inflation levels, tread depth and other indicators, thus helping to make tires last longer and allowing operators to forecast and budget for OTR tire related expenses with greater accuracy.

David Anckaert, Vice President Goodyear Commercial Tires Europe said that the recent advances in connectivity gave the company the ability to develop digital solutions which can be used by customers to optimize their tires usage and cut their costs. He said that Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty can help prevent tire inflation loss, a common problem and as a tire that is 50 per cent under-inflated can reduce tire life by 72 per cent, it is very useful. Goodyear customers can use the Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty solution for predicting tire life with greater accuracy thus giving them peace of mind and ensuring a much greater return on investment from tires.”
