For the fourth consecutive year, Goodyear has been recognized as the most admired tire manufacturer in the world by Fortune magazine. The company was also ranked as the No: 3 company in the world in the Motor Vehicle Parts category and as the top company in this segment from the US.It earned the No:3 position in five of the nine parameters that were used for the ranking while it ranked No:4 in three of the rest. In addition to its high ranking, it bested its competitors by a wide margin in the overall ranking and in each of the nine attributes.
Fortune first began publishing its list of the most admired companies in the world in 1983, and this list is considered as the most authoritative and definitive list of its kind as it involves a rigorous assessment of each company by 4,000 highly knowledgeable people including security analysts, board directors and company executives. The companies are assessed based on their financial soundness, global competitiveness, people management, long-term investment plans, innovation, use of asses, management quality, product/service quality and social responsibility.
The full list of the global leaders in each category has been published in the March issue of Fortune magazine, which is one of the leading business magazines in the world.
Goodyear is one the largest tire companies in the world, with a global workforce of 66,000 employees spread across 49 manufacturing facilities located in 22 countries in different parts of the world. The company has two Innovation Centers – one in Akron, Ohio, and the second one in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg. They focus on research and development to develop technologically innovative products incorporating the latest developments in tire design.
