Renowned Polish bus manufacturer, Polaris has approved the installation of Continental’s tire-pressure-monitoring system ContiPressureCheck as OE on its vehicles. The company is one of the leading manufacturers of city, regional and trolley buses and will be providing ContiPressureCheck as original equipment on the vehicles it manufactures. Hartwig Kühn, ContiPressureCheckTM Manager at Continental Hanover greeted this announcement with great satisfaction and said it confirms that ContiPressureCheck is truly an ideal solution for fleet operators who want to keep the tires of their vehicles in the best condition while contributing to the safety and comfort of their passengers.
All Polaris vehicles will now have the connections and cable joints needed for the installation of ContiPressureCheck as standard equipment by integrating them during the production process of the buses and the vehicles dashboard will be able to display the pressure and temperature of the tires. Customers who order the ContiPressureCheck system as an optional extra, will get the tire sensors and Central Control Unit (CCU) as part of the delivery. They can be also retrofitted if the kit is not included in the initial order. Solaris has already started making deliveries of the buses fitted with the ContiPressureCheck systems and delivered the first order of 60 city buses to a customer from the city of Krakow.
The ContiPressureCheck is a tire pressure monitoring system that uses sensors inside the tire to measure both the temperature and the tire pressure inside the tire in real time, with these values being conveyed to the driver in real time through a dashboard display. The driver is warned immediately in case there are any deviations so that the driver can immediately take corrective action to return the pressure to normal levels.
The ContiPressurecheck minimizes treadwear and fuel consumption while enhancing the mileage thus helping fleet operators to maximize the efficiency of their fleet. Due to the significant impact this will have on increasing the lifespan of the tires and thus reducing CO2 emissions, fleet operators can cut operating costs and reduce the environmental impact of their fleet. In addition, ContiPressureCheck™ makes a valuable contribution to passenger safety.
ContiPressureCheck can be easily fitted even during the tire changing process and is compatible with different telematic systems, allowing the data on the tire pressure and temperature to show up in an integrated display as well as the telematic network. This makes it possible for the collected data to be downloaded to an external device, simplifying the tire management of the fleet.
