Cooper Tire has announced that the company has received a score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The tire manufacturer has been designated as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
The Corporate Equality Index is a national benchmarking survey and report in the United States which measures corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ equality in the workplace. Commenting on the recognition, Brad Hughes, Cooper’s President & Chief Executive Officer said that Cooper Tire is committed to creating an environment that promotes diversity and inclusion for its employees and communities.
Hughes added that the company believes that all employees should feel welcome, respected and valued for who they are and was pleased to be recognized for putting in place policies and programs that support equality.
The CEI assesses and rates companies based on very stringent and detailed criteria. These criteria fall under five broad categories: non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion, public commitment to LGBTQ equality, and responsible citizenship.
