Spectra Premium teamed up with the company’s brand ambassador, Canadian race driver, Jean-François Dumoulin to showcase its new high-performance radiator. The company claims the new radiator has several technological innovations.
Dumoulin will be using the new NSCR100 radiator during race trials in the United States at the end of March. The company will also be highlighting the radiator by installing it in the 2017 #04 Spectra Premium/Bernier Crépeau/Groupe Bellemare /MIA car for the season.
Serge Guénette, Spectra’s vice president of manufacturing said that the company has come up with a better product by understanding the existing challenges and coming up with improvements.
The radiator is made completely from aluminum and uses optimal balanced material thickness to minimize weight. The durability has been enhanced with heavy gauge tubes and the first rows of tubes have been reinforced in order to increase the mechanical resistance without compromising coolant flow. The oil cooler, too is made of aluminum and has been integrated in the radiator’s tank, thus further reducing the radiator’s weight and the need for extra hoses and connections. This frees up extra space under the hood of the car. Installation and removal is easier with the incorporation of anchor points into the design. There is no more need for special tools. The radiator has integrated lightweight fan brackets thus permitting installation of a wide range of electric fans for maximum flow of air. Installation of fans is facilitated by a standard threaded insert system. Depending on the needs of each racing team, the coolant hose circuit can be customized as the radiator has a universal connection inlet port. The possibility of damage in the event of a light accident has been minimized with relocation of the radiator vents.
In order to develop this advanced radiator, Spectra teamed up with the Dumoulin Compétition crew.
Speaking about the innovative radiator, Jason Best, senior vice president at Spectra said that the reliability of Spectra’s products attests to the performance of the company’s range when it comes to passenger cars, fleet vehicles and now even race cars.
Dumoulin will be participating in at least 10 races in 2017 and 2018 in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.
