Leading lighting and electronics company, Hella recently opened its new regional headquarters in Northville, Michigan. The company was previously based in Plymouth Township, which served as its headquarters for more than 20 years. The new building will also serve to replace two local satellite offices, and will thus serve to bring the company’s operations under one roof.
The modern facility which has two levels covers almost 115,000 square-feet and houses an accredited in-house test lab that will be ISO 17025 certified and will have the ability to perform EMC, vibration, and environmental validation testing. The facility will also have a ‘Lighting Tunnel’ that is equipped with a customized goniophotometer having industry-leading measurement technology, which will be certified to IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards. This goniophotometer can be used for supporting both product development as well as validation testing.
Commenting on the new headquarters, Steve Lietaert, president of Hella corporate center USA said that the opening of the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters further solidifies its commitment to the North American market and opens up the scope for endless opportunities in the future. The facility with its ideal location and open layout provides Hella with the space, connectivity and resources it needs to optimize efficiencies and expand its reach in the region.
Hella’s new facility houses all modern office equipment and features a collaborative and flexible, open-concept work environment. There are a number of focus rooms and meeting spaces to cater to the needs of all employees and customers. The building is notable for its unique lighting fixtures and to make life more convenient for the employees also has a fitness center and a cafeteria.
At the new headquarters, Hella will develop electronics products and lighting technology solutions. The building will also serve as a hub for the company’s central functions, like purchasing, sales, information management as well as finance and controlling for the North America region. Currently, Hella has over 350 employees at the new Northville facility and about 800 employees in the United States.
