BMW’s best-known SUV has entered a new chapter in the UAE. BMW Group Middle East has debuted the fifth-generation BMW X5 through its official importers, AGMC in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, and Abu Dhabi Motors in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. It brings a bold new look, a new cabin and, for the first time, a fully electric X5. Prices and some key specifications have not been announced yet, so here is everything confirmed so far.
Quick Highlights
- Fifth-generation X5 debuts in the UAE through AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors
- First models expected in late November 2026
- Electric and plug-in hybrid versions arrive in early 2027
- The new iX5 60 xDrive has a claimed range of up to 845 km
- UAE pricing, power figures and the full lineup are not announced yet
A New Face With Neue Klasse Design
The new X5 adopts the design language of BMW’s Neue Klasse models. The front has an upright, vertical kidney grille with Iconic Glow illumination and a double-X light signature. The door handles are recessed BMW Winglet units that operate electrically powered doors. Buyers can choose from 11 exterior colours and wheels up to 23 inches, plus M Sport, M Sport Pro and M Performance styling options.
Worth knowing: despite the new look, reports say the X5 still uses the previous generation’s CLAR platform and not the new Neue Klasse platform used by cars like the iX3.
Five Drive System Technologies
BMW says this is the broadest range of drive systems ever offered on an X model. It includes petrol and plug-in hybrid versions, including the X5 M60e xDrive, plus the new electric iX5. A hydrogen-powered iX5 is planned for later. BMW has not confirmed which versions will be sold in the UAE, so ask your dealer.
Meet the Electric BMW iX5
The iX5 is the first battery-electric X5. It uses sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology and an 800V electrical system. The iX5 60 xDrive has a claimed range of up to 845 km, along with fast charging, bidirectional charging and a battery built from new cylindrical cells. As always, range claims are manufacturer figures and real-world results will be lower, especially in UAE summer heat.
Inside the Cabin
The interior is built around BMW Panoramic iDrive and the new BMW Operating System X. Highlights include:
- A free-cut central display and a new multifunction steering wheel
- BMW 3D Head-Up Display
- BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower windscreen
- An optional BMW Passenger Screen, offered on the X5 for the first time
- Decorative surfaces in slate and glass, with an ambient lighting strip running through the cabin
Chassis and Driver Assistance
The new X5 has adaptive suspension and almost 50:50 weight distribution. Adaptive Chassis Control and Adaptive Chassis Control Professional with roll stabilisation are available. BMW Symbiotic Drive combines Level 2 driver assistance with active safety systems. The electric and future hydrogen versions add the Heart of Joy package, including BMW Soft-Stop technology.
What About UAE Prices?
There is no official UAE price for the new X5 yet. For context only, the outgoing X5 is listed on UAE car sites from roughly AED 370,000 to AED 391,000 (US$100,749 to US$106,467) for the entry six-cylinder version, depending on the site. That is not the price of the new generation. Wait for AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors to confirm pricing closer to delivery.
Where It Is Made
Production began in August 2026 at BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The iX5 is the first all-electric vehicle to be built there, a milestone for the factory.
Final Thoughts
The new X5 is a major step for BMW in the UAE, adding an electric version for the first time. The big unknowns are the price and exactly which versions will arrive here. Will you pick the petrol X5 or the electric iX5? Tell us in the comments.
