Mini has begun 2018 by announcing a partnership with The Woolmark Company to foster the skills of young designers. The Woolmark Company was formed especially to showcase the versatility of Australian Merino wool. Both brands are known for their commitment to design and innovation and will collaborate on the presentation of a wool capsule collection designed by upcoming designers in the field of fashion. The collection will be presented in June 2018 at Pitti Uomo 94, which is a leading fair devoted to men’s fashion and lifestyle products.
The Woolmark Company is known for the support it provides to cutting-edge fashion designers on a global level and the collaboration with The Woolmark company is the next step to take the Mini fashion brand forward. Over the past two years, Mini has unveiled two collections named Mini Fluid Fashion and Mini Fasion – Beyond Native comprising work by young international designers.
Esther Bahne, Head of MINI Brand Strategy and Business Innovation said that MINI is positioned as a brand that is all about iconic design and urban lifestyle. Like The Woolmark Company, the automotive brand is known for quality and courage. This is why The Woolmark Company was a good fit when choosing a partner to work with a new group of innovative young designers.
Both brands share common values including an understanding of the need for innovation. The collaboration between the two brands is expected to effectively leverage Mini’s competence in design and the many years of experience of The Woolmark Company in materials research and development.
The Pitti Uomo show has been held twice a year in Florence from 1972 and serves as a platform to promotes young, up-and-coming and sometimes unconventional fashion labels. Mini has been working from January 2015, with Pitti Immagine, an annual fashion industry fair in Italy.
