The company also produces premium motorcycles and it is in this capacity that the company’s M pision has cultivated a longstanding collaboration with MotoGP. Just like Formula One represents the pinnacle of motorsports, MotoGP celebrates the most technologically advanced motorcycles and ace riders with many manufacturers using Moto GP races to test their latest technological innovations. BMW M has been supporting international MotoGP events from 1999 and the brand’s partnership with the organizer of the events, Dorna Sports has grown in scope over the years.
In 2014, the long running partnership between Dorna Sports and BMW M pision was renewed upto 2020. Such long running partnerships are extremely rare in the world of top-class international sporting events. As part of BMW’s commitment to Moto GP, the company will be providing a fleet of safety cars, high-performance BMW M cars equipped with the latest technological features to safeguard the safety of participants in MotoGP events, irrespective of the conditions. The latest such safety car to join the fleet is the BMW M2 MotoGP Safety Car, which will be launched in this season.
The Safety Cars are cars that have been specially customized at the BMW M factory to be used as lead cars for motorcycle races. All the other vehicles belonging to the fleet are also modified in the same manner. Other activities are also part of the collaboration between BMW M and MotoGP. These include a BMW M Award for the best MotoGP qualifier of the season. This award has been in vogue from 2003 onwards. The BMW M MotoGP Experience gives visitors the chance to have a rare and close look at the world of motorcycle racing. BMW M MotoGP experts offer exclusive, first-hand insights on the MotoGP races. The BMW M pision uses selected Grand Prix weekends to showcase on-site campaigns featuring the company’s latest models and products.
