The Skin Diver watch that Longines first launched in 1959 was the renowned watch maker’s first diving watch and proved to be a best seller. The company has now recreated a variant of this classic watch with modern components. It has a 42mm steel case that accommodates an automatic L888 caliber movement that was made exclusively for Longines. The screwed-in crown and back make the watch waterproof to a depth of 300 meters. Another notable feature of the watch is its grained black dial. The hours are in Arabic numerals and both the hours and the hands are covered in faux patina colored lume that Longines calls “Od Rhodium”. The Longines logo at 12 o’clock position and the word “Automatic” at the 6 o’clock position are also in the same shade that serves as a nice contrast to the black dial. The look is completed with a heavily domed sapphire crystal and the unidirectional black PVD bezel. There are three options when it comes to the strap – a black criss-crossed rubber strap, a Milanese steel bracelet, or a natural brown leather strap. This vintage inspired watch is definitely one of the most impressive watches that have been launched recently.
