Most of us here in the UAE have been in a situation where on being stuck in traffic, we have taken a sandy detour to get home faster. Then, we end up getting bogged down in a sandy stretch and borrowing tow ropes from kind strangers. So, tow ropes are a definite must-have when it comes to essential equipment in your vehicle. There are a few other things you should definitely have in your car.
Battery jumper cables
Many of us have made the mistake of leaving our vehicle lights on overnight and draining the battery. If you love going on long drives or on off-road explorations, it would be handy to have battery jumper cables in the event that your battery runs out of juice and you end up with no one to help. You can also use them to help other motorists who might be stuck and pass on the kindness.
High-power LED flashlight
This is one essential accessory you need to check out engine issues that might be hard to see or even to retrieve stuff that has fallen out of your wallet in the car. You can even use these lights to attract attention if you need help and it is dark and deserted.
Reflective triangles and reflective vests: The reflective triangles are now mandatory when you go to get your vehicle passed at Tasjeel. We might think it is unnecessary but you will thank God you had the sense to get one when other motorists come to help you, especially at night just because they have seen the reflective triangle or the vest. People don’t always stop when they see a vehicle parked on the side of the road. They are more likely to stop if they know that you are in trouble.
Fire extinguisher
This is something you need a little bit of practice and training for. However, it can come in handy if you regularly go off-road or if you have a vehicle that is really old or modified. Make sure you get an extinguisher that is big enough (at least 1 kg) and can handle chemical and fuel fires. Fire extinguishers can be costly, but then so is your car.
