625 hp and 750 Nm of maximum torque as standard, acceleration to 100 km/h in just around 3.2 seconds and a top speed of up to 305 km/h. These impressive figures belong to the high-performance Gran Tourer M8, available in three body styles. The G-POWER brand, which has specialized in BMW M optimizations for more than 38 years, has now chosen the V8 luxury liner as the basis for higher levels, transforming it optionally into the G8M HURRICANE RS with 840 hp or G8M HURRICANE RR with 900 hp. G-POWER was not only able to draw on the experience gained with the M8 over a period of more than a year, for example in the form of conversions to the G8M BiTURBO numerous examples have already been optimized during this time. In addition, the team benefited enormously from the results of the HURRICANE development work for the corresponding optimization program for the F90 M5. In fact, in the spring of 2020, the team from Aichach had already presented the HURRICANE RS version of the G5M based on the high performance sedan. This was followed a few months later in the fall by the even more powerful G5M HURRICANE RR. Although the G8M HURRICANE is brand new, its technology has been tested and proven for many months. After all, it has the same 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine (S63B44T4) as the M5 and thus also adopts the respective G-POWER packages for performance enhancement. In the case of the HURRICANE RS, the G8M gets the GP-840 performance software as well as several hardware optimizations: G-POWER upgrade turbochargers with enlarged intake and exhaust areas and CNC-milled housings are installed, as well as a DEEPTONE stainless steel exhaust system that flows into four carbon-sheathed 110-millimeter tailpipes and connects to the eight-cylinder engine via sport downpipes complete with sport catalytic converters. The bottom line is an output of 840 hp and 1,050 Nm of maximum torque. The top speed remains limited in consideration of the tires, but the maximum has been raised significantly and now stands at a governed 340 km/h. The G8M HURRICANE RR is even more brutal. In addition to the GP-900 performance software and the G-POWER hardware modifications also installed on the RS, there are additional optimizations, such as the HURRICANE engine conversion with forged pistons, modified connecting rods, as well as a larger cooling package and a reinforced drivetrain. Thus, the 4.4-liter V8 comes to 900 hp and (limited) 1,050 Nm of torque; the top speed is also electronically limited to 340 km/h. G-POWER attaches great importance to all performance upgrades, not only to the greatest possible increase, but also to good drivability and durability. This means that all packages are thoroughly tested on the test bench during development, and all components are manufactured to fit precisely and matched to each other. A significant contribution to the engine thermal management is also made by the G-POWER-VENTURI carbon front hood, which improves the ventilation of the engine compartment with its “Dynamic Venting” technology. Complementing this is the large, fixed GP-DYNAMIC RR wing on the rear. Made entirely of carbon, it has motorsport quality and is particularly lightweight and stands on CNC-milled
aluminum feet. It not only provides a visual highlight, but also increases the contact pressure. The G8M presented here are real eye-catchers thanks to their radiant full-foiling in the equally stimulating and alerting color HURRICANE Orange Metallic. To round off the optical refinement, G-POWER offers two different in-house rim sets: The choice is between the HURRICANE RR or the HURRICANE RS forged wheels, each in 9×21 inch and 10.5×21 inch with tires in 285/30ZR21 and 295/30ZR21. The perfectly fitting, variable lowering is achieved by the G-POWER coilover suspension Variant 4, which furthermore allows an adjustment of the rebound and compression damping. And even the interior is not disregarded by G-POWER: The G8M HURRICANE RR comes standard with an extensive, handfinished interior featuring the finest materials such as leather, Alcantara, and carbon. It is available as an option for the HURRICANE RS.
