Leading German corporation Henkel AG and engineering company RLE International have announced that they will be collaborating and will form an automotive design engineering alliance for future mobility.
As part of their alliance, the two companies will work together on the design of electric and autonomous vehicles with RLE contributing its designing and concept development capabilities and Henkel’s bringing its materials know-how to the partnership to create a “premier design-in engineering solution provider for the mobility industry”.
E-mobility and autonomous driving are set to play an increasing role in the automotive industry in the future, with environmental norms across the world becoming more stringent.
The two companies will cooperate on new architecture designs and solutions which can ramp up safety and reduce weight by leveraging advanced simulation technologies. Another area that they will work will be the integration and protection of batteries and electronic components in future vehicles.
Christian Kirsten, corporate senior vice president, Henkel Transport & Metal said that the partnership’s combination of material science and engineering expertise will offer a significant competitive advantage when it comes to the design of new e-mobility concepts and lightweight innovations.
RLE specializes in the development of effective and technologically advanced engineering solutions for vehicle component development and design. This extends to concept development, vehicle and safety engineering, as well as electric/electronics, e-mobility and lightweight design.
The company will use its knowledge in these areas and combine it with Henkel’s advanced materials know-how in high performance adhesives and sealants, structural foams and sound-deadeners to create a “go-to engineering partner and preferred advanced material supplier in the industry.”
