M4 e M6
Brembo used the recent SEMA show in Las Vegas as the venue to launch its new race inspired Brembo M6 and M4 calipers. These calipers are perfect for the racing enthusiast who wants to ramp up their braking skills a notch and loves to race on weekends.
The M6 is a six-piston aluminum front caliper that has performance properties similar to Brembo’s endurance caliper that was used in the Ford GT which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The pistons have racing style radiators and lack an external dust seal, thus providing the best combination of performance and long-lasting track use. To give them greater longevity and resistance to corrosion at higher temperatures, the calipers are hard anodized. As in all of the company’s competition products, the Brembo logo is racing style, and engraved in red.
Speaking about the new calipers, Dan Sandberg, Brembo North America President and CEO said that owners of performance vehicles have become increasingly interested in track day driving in the past five years. As more and more motorists get to be comfortable on track in their high-performance cars, their requirement for faster cornering, higher speed and better braking ability will keep increasing. While still being street compliant, the new M6 and M4 calipers provide that next level of performance braking.
The new six-piston M6 calipers and four-piston M4 calipers share many similarities with the the current Brembo Gran Turismo (GT) performance caliper range and this makes them fully interchangeable with the GT kits. Hence, they can be used for the same size wheels and accommodate the same size rotors while providing enhancing the performance. In fact, the M6 and M4 calipers can be referenced through the same application list as the GT brake systems.
The M6 is a front caliper that is designed for a disc that can range from 350 to 405 mm, with a thickness between 32 and 34 mm. The M4 can be used for the rear axle as well as for some front applications and easily complements discs ranging in size from 328 to 380mm. Both the M6 and M4 calipers share the same distinctive Brembo design characteristics that have made the calipers winners in the field of motorsports for the past four decades.
Brembo has a dedicated range of products for those involved in motorsports. These can withstand even the most extreme conditions while delivering superior braking power, a high degree of precision and control, resistance to extremely high temperatures and consistent performance. All of Brembo’s racing application products have been developed as the outcome of continual research and development in close cooperation with the leading racing teams in the world. They are developed completely in-house and track tested on an extensive basis before they are made available at the retail level.
