Al-Futtaim Motors Selects Finalists for Toyota Dream Car Art Contest

Al-Futtaim Motors, which is the exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, has selected nine finalists to participate in the Toyota Dream Car Art contest on the global level. Thirty promising artists were chosen from over 2,000 entries by a professional panel and nine of them have a chance of being invited to Japan later this year for the award ceremony if they are selected as the winners at the global level. The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is meant to inspire youth to be more creative and develop an interest in making the world a better place.

Al-Futtaim Motors held the UAE round of the contest at Al-Futtaim showrooms across the country and received over 2000 entries from children in three different age groups, belonging to the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, which are for those from 5-7 years of age, 8-11 years of age and 12-15 years of age. Three entries from each age category were selected for the global level while the top 30 artworks will be displayed at a special exhibition that will shortly be held at the Toyota showroom in Dubai Festival City.

“This year’s entries have exceeded our expectations, with more than 2,000 entries from across the UAE, almost double last year’s numbers, with plenty of new young artists joining the fold,” said Saud Abbasi, Managing Director, Toyota at Al-Futtaim Motors.

He said the company has high hopes for the UAE contestants at the global level as a contestant from the UAE won the Toyota ‘Engineering Inspiration Award’ last year. Nine-year-old Minhal Adnan Sami from the UAE won the award for her entry which was said to be the one that was most inspiring for Toyota’s production staff.

Toyota is conducting the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest as part of the company’s social responsibility initiatives to inspire children to develop an interest in cars and to realize the importance of having a dream. As part of the contest, children from all corners of the globe are invited to share their ideas about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars, thus giving free rein to their creativity.

The winners of the final round will get a chance to visit the Toyota factory and experience the different aspects of Japanese culture, while they are in Japan. The top finalists at the UAE level will get valuable art-related prizes complements of Al-Futtaim Motors.
