Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it would be participating in the 45th edition of the Tokyo Motor Show which is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 25 to November 5. The company would use the show to celebrate its 100th anniversary and to its long history in the tyre industry. Yokohama’s booth at the show will highlight some of its most popular tyres and its technical expertise with informative displays about its rubber technologies and next-generation technologies that are set to shape the future of automotive tires.
The booth will showcase a number of tires that have provided motorists over the years with thrilling rides, including a replica of the first corded tire in japan, the “Hama Town Cord” (which was produced in 1921); Yokohama’s first radial tire, the “G.T. SPECIAL” (which was launched in 1967), and the “ADVAN HF” (which made its debut in 1978) and was the first tyre in a new tyre category, the sport radial tire.
The “ADVAN HF Type D”, which was launched this autumn, and the “ADVAN 052”, a street sport tire that promises superior driving performance are the latest tyres from Yokohma. The montage of tyres will reveal the spirit of challenge that has characterized the Yokohama brand for the past 100 years and culminated in the design and manufacture of the most advanced, high-performance tires.
When it comes to rubber technologies, the limelight will be on wet grip technology. The booth will have a number of Yokohama tyres that can offer superior wet grip performance, like the “ADVAN dB V552”. This tyre is set to be launched at the retail level from November and is positioned as the most silent tyre the company has ever developed. It is a premium comfort tyre. Other tyres in focus at the booth include the “ADVAN Sport V105”, Yokohama’s flagship tyre that is the OE fitment for many premium models and the highly fuel-efficient yet performance oriented “BluEarth-A”.
The Yokohama brand also has an industry first with 200-plus tire sizes, or to be more precise, 212 sizes that have received the ultimate “a” ranking for wet grip performance according to Japan’s tire labeling system.
Yokohama is also known for its innovative approach to tyre technology and the booth will display two new tires having pathbreaking technologies. The first tyre is a lightweight tire that is meant to be more eco-friendly as it uses less natural resources and is lighter than conventional tyres. The second tyre is an aerodynamic tyre that controls the flow of air to the vehicle and thus delivers superior fuel efficiency and safety.
Another draw for visitors to the Tokyo Motor Show will be that from October 25 to October 29, visitors to the YOKOHAMA booth will be able to see the 2016-17 Premier League championship trophy that was won Yokohama’s partner, the Chelsea Football Club.
Yokohama Rubber plans to hold a press conference at the site from 10:00 a.m. on October 26.
