Toyota Motor Corporation has selected BluEarth E 70, BluEarth S34 and ASPEC Aa 349 tires from Yokohama Rubber Co as the factory fitment for the 2016 Prius model. The Prius is one of the most popular hybrid models on the global scene and the selection of Yokohama tires for this model will definitely boost brand awareness of Yokohama Tire on the global scene. The 2016 Prius has proved to be as popular as the previous versions, and was launched in Japan in December 2015. It has already been launched in the UAE and will soon be available in all major international markets.
Toyota will be using the BluEarth E70 tires in Prius models that will be sold in the European, Japanese and Oceania markets. For Prius models manufactured in North America, the BluEarth S34 tires will be used as the OE fitment. In other countries, the “ASPEC A349” tire will be used. When it comes to sizes, OEM tire sizes are 215/45R17 87W for the “BluEarth E70” tires, P215/45R17 87V for “BluEarth S34” tires, and 195/65R15 91H for the “ASPEC A349” tires.
Yokohama had developed the “BluEarth” range with the concept of designing a tire that is environmentally, socially and human friendly. Both the “BluEarth E70” and “BluEarth S34” incorporate the technology and basic design of this range. The emphasis is on maximizing the fuel efficiency of the vehicle without any compromise in safety and comfort.
The “BluEarth” range is a highly versatile range with tires for different markets. The “BluEarth E70” is positioned as summer tire for passenger vehicles while “BluEarth S34” is an all-seasontire. “ASPEC A349”, like the BluEarth E70 tire is a summer tire for passenger vehicles, characterized by higher levels of comfort, safety and better drivability.
Yokohama Rubber is focusing closely on incorporating more advanced tire technologies in the “BluEarth” range and many of the new tires in the range have been adopted as OE fitments by leading automakers for their hybrid and eco-friendly models.
