Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. , the US subsidiary of Toyo has just launched the Toyo M588 heavy duty on/off-road drive tyre. The tyre is meant for severe service applications and can be used in oil, gas, mining, and logging industries. It has a tread depth of 33/32” and incorporates a special cut and chip resistant compound. These features as well as a highly appealing price point will make the tyre a good candidate in the severe-use segment.
The M588 tyre is positioned as a durable tyre that can easily tackle even the harshest elements like scoria and caliche roads, snow and mud. With aggressive side protectors that are molded into the sidewall of the tyre, it appears highly tough. These side protectors offer protection against damage caused by rocks and from continued use of snow chains in severe cold.
Another distinctive feature of the M588 tyre is its unique tread block arrangement, a high-void designthat offers excellent traction in snow and mud. The special siping on top of the tread blocks further boosts the traction. The performance of the tyre is further enhanced by stone ejectors and mud breakers. Angled inline lateral grooves, which are also paced between the tread blocks, help in removal of packed mud and prevent snow chains from dropping into the grooves.
The casing design is highly durable and facilitates retreading. Toyo has used its renowned e-balance technology for longevity, tread profile retention, and better fuel efficiency. Two 16-ply sizes are available with the new M588, an 11R22.5, and an 11R24.5.
“The M588 is an ideal solution for customers operating in tough and unforgiving conditions,” said Mike Graber, senior product manager for commercial tires, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “It is designed to take the abuse experienced in on/off road conditions such as oil fields and forestry applications.”
