The first Tire Technology Symposium in China that was organized by the rubber, plastics and composites testing company Smithers Rapra drew significant interest from the leading players in the tire industry in China. As many as 70 members of the tire industry including tire manufacturers, retailers and OEMS attended the event that was organized by the research and testing firm.
The Tire Technology Symposium served as a platform for the delegates to share their business insight, technical knowledge and regulatory expertise. The presentation was meant to help fellow tire technologists to understand that these measurements play a crucial role in vehicle design as they can ride and drive the tires in the virtual world, thus helping them to optimize the design of chassis, control and suspension components based on their understading of how tire dynamics change with different driving conditions. Hi session was followed by several discussions by industry experts on topics related to the global market.
According to Derek Read, General Manager of Smithers Rapra’s testing laboratory in Suzhou, China, the symposium provided the industry with a forum where they could learn and discuss the latest trends in tire testing technology. There were other sessions on tire modelling, data analysis and rolling resistance testing
Smithers Rapra has been associated with the global tire industry from 1925 and operates several testing facilities in England, China and the United States as well as a winter proving ground in Michigan, United States.
