Pirelli has given a fillip to its reputation as a regional leader in safety and performance in the automotive industry by adopting the ‘Tire Profiles’ Groove Glove technology. Pirelli has thus become the first tire manufacturer in the Middle East to adopt this game-changing technology through which drivers can get the most comprehensive tire update report. Groove Grove is the latest tire scanning technology and Pirelli is introducing this to the Middle East in a regional first.
Groove Grove was created by ‘Tire Profiles’, a partner of MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang GmbH & Co., the German supplier of high-end garage and vehicle inspection equipment. Using the technology, motorists can get tire-related information, including suspension, pressure, alignment, wear and tear and replacement recommendations. The technology also has the capability to calculate the tread depth of the major grooves on a tire to a tenth of a millimeter.
The Groove Grove algorithm compares the existing tires on a given surface at 110kph with a new set on the same car with the same conditions to determine the relative braking distance of the vehicle. It then calculates the impact the condition of the current tires will have on braking quality.
Carlos Milani, MD of Middle East and Indian subcontinent, Pirelli, said that technology is evolving at a rapid pace and Pirelli’s main priorities are performance and safety. The company’s aim is to leverage technological developments to make life easier, safer and more efficient for customers by providing not just the best tires but also the best service. By becoming the first adopters of the Groove Glove technology in the Middle East, Pirelli will be able to provide customers with an unrivalled experience through access to accurate digitized tire data. Customers can now use Groove Glove to more accurately identify tear condition and the next steps. Milani said the introduction of the technology highlights Pirelli’s commitment and capability to offer a full-spectrum, first-class service to motorists.
Noman Haider,Technical Advisor at MAHA Middle East FZE, added that the accuracy of the Groove Glove technology can be used effectively to educate drivers on safety and reducing the risk of tire-related road traffic accidents. The Groove Glove from ‘Tire Profiles’ provides accurate measurement of thousands of points across the surface of the tire in addition to significantly reducing the time needed to accurately measure wear and tear.
“Pirelli has always been a leading global innovator in finding new means and methods to ensure drivers’ safety. It was no surprise for us that the leading premium tire manufacturer was the first to implement the Groove Glove technology in the region – it aligns perfectly with their mission,” concluded Haider.
Pirelli advises motorists to conduct Groove Glove tire scanning should be done regularly as repeating the process is the only way to limit accidents.
