Most motorists go by the rankings tires have scored in tire tests conducted by reputed magazines or clubs before they proceed with the purchase of tires for their vehicle. One such ranking that is highly regarded in the global tire industry is that given by the German automobile club ADAC. ADAC recently rated the complete range of Nokian summer tires as “good” in its 2016 edition of tests made on summer tires from different manufacturers for mid-range cars. During the tests, the Nokian zLine tire which is normally used in size 185/65 R15H for small and compact cars earned this distinction based on its good performance on both wet and dry roads and its contribution to low fuel consumption. It was rated “good” with regard to three criteria – fuel consumption, dry road and “wear” test. During the assessment conducted by TCS automobile Club of Switzerland and ÖAMTC club in Austria, they rated the tire as “recommended”. ADAC particularly commended the low fuel consumption of the Nokian zLine tire for its low fuel consumption.
Others weighing in on the quality of the zLine sporty summer tire from Nokian included the GTU technical inspection organization and the German car magazine Aauto Zeitung both of whom rated the tire as “highly recommended” based on the tests they conducted. They felt its main strength was its low rolling resistance
The Nokian Weatherproof All-Weather tire has also done well in tests, scoring a “good +” overall rating and getting the “GUTE FAHRT-recommendation” from the German car magazine GUTEFAHRT and finishing second in the list of top performers in the tires tests the magazine conducted for all-season tires. In the winter category, tire earned a “Very good” rating based on its outstanding braking and traction in snowy conditions. It performed equally well on both dry and wet roads and the brakes performed admirably well on wet surfaces. The result was “very good in the aquaplaning test and the rolling resistance of the tire was also rated as “very good”.
In the tests performed by ADAC, TCS and ÖAMTC, as many as 32 summer tires in sizes 185/65 R15 H and 225/45 R 17 Y were tested under strict parameters and standards. 14 summer tires of size 225/45 R 17 competed in the test done by Auto Zeitung. GUTE FAHRT compared 9 tires of size 205/55 R 16.
