Nissan Motor Co. Ltd has chosen two Hankook tires as the exclusive OE fitment for the 2016 model of the Nissan Frontier mid-size pickup truck that the company sells in North America. This is the Korean tire manufacturer’s sixth OE fitment from Nissan. Other models for which Hankook tires have been chosen as OE fitments are the Qashqai, NV200, Altima, Paladin and the Rogue. The Frontier pickup truck is highly popular in the United States and was the eighth best selling vehicle in its category with deliveries of the model crossing 62, 817 units.
The two tires that Nissan chose for the truck are the all-terrainHankook Dynapro AT-M and the all-season Hankook Dynapro HT. The Dynapro AT-M is positioned as a tire that offers better off-road traction in snowy and muddy conditions. The Dynapro HT is a premium all-season tire offering rolling resistance, treadwear, and snow traction performance characteristics. The all-terrain Dynapro AT-M will be used in size P265/75R16T while Dynapro HT is to be used in size P265/70R16T. The OE tires will be shipped to Nissan’s plant in Smyrna, Tennessee where the company assembles the Frontier King Cab and Crew Cab models.
Commenting on the fitments, Hankook Vice Chairman and CEO Seung Hwa Suh said the OE contracts highlight the fact Hankook tires are now being recognized as a “global premium brand”. He went on to state that Hankook will continue to invest heavily in R&D to increase the number of its OE fitments and thus meet the stringent criteria of the leading car manufacturers in the world.
