Nexen Tire has announced that the the company has won the prestigious iF Design Award for its ‘Winguard Sport 2’ tire. The iF Design award is one of the biggest design competitions in the world and is given by the iF International Forum Design. It is considered as one of the top three design awards, in addition to the IDEA Design Award and the red Dot Design Award and has a history that goes back 60 years.
The Winguard Sport 2 tire was launched in 2017 and has a winter reindeer as its motif. It provides motorists with the optimal driving experience in snowy weather, thanks to a shoulder block groove that increases side force generation on snow and wet surfaces and a new pitch arrangement.
The jury for the awards evaluated the tire as a premium winter tire based on its zigzag groove design and unique 3D winter kerf that provides users with the benefits of outstanding traction and stable performance in the snow.
Commenting on the award, Kyung Woo Cheon, Executive Vice President of R&D at Nexen Tire said that the award highlighted that tires from Nexen Tire are highly competitive in the design stakes in addition to being excellent in performance and quality.
Cheon added, “Nexen Tire will continue to improve its product competitiveness in the global market through continuous investment in R&D.”
