Harley-Davidson is one of the most well-known names in the motorbike industry and the company is known for its stringent performance standards. Engineers from Dunlop, the renowned tyre brand have worked closely with the Harley-Davidson team for more than 30 years to design and develop tyres that can meet Harley-Davidson’s exacting standards.
Dunlop further strengthened the partnership with several new fitments, like the introduction of the GT502 tyre for the latest XL1200 CX Roadster. Dunlop has developed specially designed tyres for some truly iconic bikes from Harley-Davidson like the Dunlop American Elite.
The American Elite proved to be a best seller among bikers mainly thanks to enhanced tyre mileage – making the model ideal for long distance adventures. Dunlop further enhanced the durability of the custom tyre by incorporating the long-wearing MT Multi-Tread rear tyre compound in the centre of the tyre, as well as a lateral-grip compound on each shoulder to further improve handling.
Recently, Harley Davidson had approved the latest Dunlop GT502 tyre for the company’s new XL1200 CX Roadster.
Dunlop is definitely celebrating a milestone to be proud of when it crossed the supply of 10 million OE tyres to Harley-Davidson.
Commenting on the achievement, Andy Marfleet, Marketing Manager, Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA said that Harley-Davidson sets demanding standards for their suppliers.
He added, “We are proud of our three decades working in close partnership on a range of models. The 10 millionth Harley-Davidson OE tyre is a significant landmark, and our focus is now on developing innovative new products for forthcoming new Harley-Davidson models.”
