Cooper Tire has announced in a press release that Daimler AG has opted to use the company’s Cooper Discoverer SRXLE tire as the original equipment (OE) tire on its new Mercedes-Benz GLE. The model was launched at the 64th edition of the Paris Motor Show in October 2018. It is expected to make its debut at the retail level later in 2019. The Cooper Discoverer SRXLE is positioned as a premium allseason SUV and CUV tire. The sizes of the all-season tire that have been selected for factory fitment on the Mercedes-Benz GLE include the 255/50R19XL and 275/50R20 sizes.
The Cooper Discoverer SRXLE tire has been recognized for its combination of high levels of quality, workmanship, innovation and technical achievement. It comes with advanced performance construction that has been optimized to deliver maximum steering response, stability in handling maneuvers and offers motorists a smooth, comfortable ride. It sports leading edge tread technology, and gives drivers greater confidence in vehicle control thanks to the superior traction it offers in all weather conditions. The tire helps improve fuel efficiency and sports a superior profile shape that comprises a finely tuned footprint. This footprint interacts with the road to enhance vehicle control. For added stability and vehicle handling, the SRXLE has MicroGauge Siping and Aqua Vac Channels. The AquaVac Channels are wide grooves in the tread that minimize hydroplaning and provide more control and grip even in rainy conditions.
