BKT Builds Gigantic Monster Jam Truck Tire

Balkrishna Industries Ltd., the Indian manufacturer of OTR tires developed a giant tire for Monster Jam as part of the company’s sponsorship deal with Feld Entertainment Inc. Feld Entertainment Inc conducts Monster Jam contests, which are positioned as family entertainment experiences in which outsize trucks conduct exciting stunts and race against each other in competitions held across Europe and North America.

Each truck has its very unique personality and fan following and comes with names like Grave Digger, Grim Reaper, Avenger and even Batman. The tire BKT made is truly a giant tire that is strong enough to support the fall of a huge, 10,000-pound, 1,500-hp Monster truck from 40 feet up in the air. It is 65.3 inches high (5 feet, 5.3 inches) and 43.6 inches wide (3 feet, 7.6 inches).The tire is also capable of supporting 70 mph racing passes.

Speaking about BKT tires, Feld Entertainment’s Bill Easterly, who led the tire development project in his role as the VP of operations, said that BKT tires have outperformed all of the other tires that they have used before for Monster Jam events.

He went on to say that BKT tires are better equipped to give the trucks the traction they need on track as they are lighter, flex better and handle well. Monster Jams become less prone to breakage and more dependable as the tires they use are lighter and more durable.

BKT had signed a multi-year agreement to be the official and exclusive tire sponsor of Monster Jam and its fleet of Monster Jam trucks numbering over 100 back in 2014. Both parties have benefited significantly from the collaboration with Monster Jam events becoming more spectacular due to the use of better tires and BKT getting higher visibility and brand awareness as an outcome of the deal.
