Audi recently revealed its first fully electric SUV, the eagerly awaited e-tron in San Francisco. For this groundbreaking model, the German car manufacturer opted to use the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV tires from Goodyear in 265/45R21 SUV size.
Goodyear’s tire met Audi’s highly demanding mileage requirements. Electric vehicles operate with higher torque when compared to models that are powered by internal combustion engines. Hence, tire wear can be upto 25 percent higher. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV can tackle these challenges due to its technically advanced construction.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV is known for its exceptional braking and handling performance in all conditions. Its Active Braking Technology shortens the braking distance by 1.2 meters on both dry and wet roads. Its construction has been optimized for SUVs and this enhances handling at higher speeds, improves cornering stiffness and reduces tread wear. These features are combined with a UHP Cool Cushion Layer, a technology that reduces rolling resistance and improves handling.
Another notable feature of the Goodyear tire which has been fitted on the Audi e-tron is its SoundComfort Technology, which can cut interior car noise by half (up to 4dB). This makes it a perfect fit for electric vehicles as in the case of EVs the lack of noise from an internal combustion engine attenuates the effect of tire and road noises.
The Audi e-tron is manufactured in Brussels, and is billed as Audi’s first fully electric commercially manufactured SUV. It has three electric motors, which makes it possible for the model to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds. Though the range can vary depending on the road conditions and the driving style, the e-tron can offer a range of up to 310 miles.
