Hansel and Gretel did not find breadcrumbs to be of much use in finding their way back home in the fairy tales written by the Grimm brothers, but the new Satnav Breadcrumbs technology from Ford is a different story. The new technology makes it possible for all Ford trucks fitted with SYNC 3 navigation drop a virtual pin every second so that drivers can more easily return to their starting point. When going off-road, especially in the desert where the view can be affected by dust and dunes, it can be difficult to find your way as landmarks and wheel tracks are not easy to identify. It is not easy to know which track marks are yours and which ones will lead you to or away from your destination.
Commenting on the new technology, Adriaan Coetzee, Director Product and Brand Marketing for Ford Direct Markets said that Ford pickups are just the right vehicles for off-road trips, whether it’s for work or for sheer adventure. He said. “Breadcrumb navigation is a simple but effective way to help drivers know exactly how to retrace their route no matter where they are.”
The system is available in all Ford Rangers and F-150s equipped with SYNC 3 and is yet another innovation that Ford has come up with to make vehicles more suitable for local conditions and use. Motorists no longer need to worry about getting lost while tackling offroad routes.
The Ranger Wildtrak is just the right vehicle for an adventurous ride with its 3.2-liter turbodiesel engine and electronic, switch-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system. Its impressive approach, departure and breakover angles give it astonishing off-road capability, while the well-appointing interior will keep passengers comfortable on both on and off-road trips.
The Ranger was recently named International Pick-Up of the Year for 2020 in Europe. Jurors drawn from 18 different countries lauded the Ranger’s enhanced performance, fuel efficiency, advanced connectivity and driver assistance technologies. These features make it the ideal pick for businesses which aim to boost their productivity.
The F-150 and the legendary F-150 Raptor are also well equipped for off-road challenges. The F-150 with its spacious interior, choice of three cab styles, three cargo box lengths and the option of 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, or 5.0-litre V8 power, is just the right vehicle for an action packed ride. It is the best-selling truck in the US thanks to its combination of outstanding passive and active safety features, capability and versatility.
