Volvo Cars has launched a new key specifically designed to give owners greater peace of mind when entrusting their vehicle to other users.
The new feature is available on the all-new Volvo S90 saloon, V90 estate and the award-winning XC90 SUV. The Red Key can be used to activate functions on the vehicle that will help to make sure that when the vehicle is in the hands of others like valet parking staff or garage staff, it is driven responsibly.
When the Red Key is used to drive the car, its top speed is limited to 120kms (75mph), the Adaptive Cruise Control function is programmed to maintain the maximum distance to the car in front, and the volume from the audio system is reduced to a preset level.
The Red Key can also be used for the permanent activation of a range of safety features, like the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), Lane Keeping Aid, Forward Collision Warning, Driver Alert Control, Distance Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Speaking about the Red Key, Mohammed Maktari, Managing Director of Trading Enterprises, said it is common for everyone to have a sense of uncertainity when they hand over the keys to their vehicle to a third party. The Red Key is a godsend for those who regularly entrust their car to others, as it can give them the confidence that their vehicle will be driven responsibly, irrespective of who is driving it
The Red Key can be purchased by new and existing owners of the Volvo 90 series range of cars through Trading Enterprises – Volvo service centers in the UAE at a cost of AED 700.
