Total has recently announced its new collaboration with Aston Martin. As per the terms of the penned global partnership deal, the energy company will become an energy partner to the luxury sportscar maker throughout this year and the following year, offering its products to the British marque and its official motorsport outfit, Aston Martin Racing.
Total will also support Aston Martin Racing throughout the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), making it the “Official Lubricant and Technical Partner” of Aston Martin Racing. With 45 years of experience and R&D in the field of motor racing, the company has developed greases, lubricants, fluids and special additives of high quality and technical performance.
The three V8 Vantage GTE cars entered by Aston Martin Racing at this year’s WEC will race with Total lubricants and, for the very first time outside F1, Total will offer a mobile lab and technical support with an engineer present at each WEC race event.
The partners will also search options for further opportunities to use Total Excellium products.
In a statement, Pierre Duhot, General Manager Automotive pision at Total Lubricants, said that above 250 researchers work at Total to develop advanced lubricants and fuels. He noted that they are proud to work closely with Aston Martin and to contribute to their racing success. “Being passionate and pushing the technical boundaries to new heights is something we share with such a legendary and premium brand as Aston Martin. We are delighted to provide our products, our support and our technical know-how to Aston Martin Racing.”
Commenting on Aston Martin, David King, Vice President & Chief Special Operations Aston Martin, said that it is a global luxury brand and it is essential that it continues to work only with the best from around the world. He added that they acknowledge Total as a key player in the automotive fuel and lubricant arena, and they very much look forward to working with them, to attain success both on and off the track.
