The Indian automotive components industry has received a shot in the arm with an Indian company Rane NSK Steering Systems of the Rane Group winning the 2018 Deming Prize.
The Deming Prize is a highly renowned award for quality that is given on an annual basis by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) to recognize companies that have attained distinctive performance benchmarks by using Total Quality Management (TQM). Rane NSK Steering Systems will formally receive the Deming Prize at a ceremony that will be held on November 14 in Tokyo.
Rane NSK Steering Systems specializes in the production of steering and suspension systems, friction materials, valve train components, occupant safety systems, die-casting products and the provision of connected mobility solutions.
The company and its workforce have set up comprehensive quality systems with the goal of making world class products. Rane NSK Steering Systems received the award in recognition of its emphasis on continuous improvement and the quality of its processes.
Commenting on this achievement, L Ganesh, chairman of the Rane Group, said that the announcement of the Deming Prize was a proud moment for Rane NSK Steering Systems. Taking this award into account, the Rane Group has been honored with a total of three Deming Grand Prizes and five Deming Prizes for various business units. The company started its TQM journey in 2000 and to its credit has secured the Deming Prize for all its manufacturing units. With this achievement, the focus will now shift from operational excellence to business excellence.
