Nissan’s subsidiary in India, Nissan India has launched a suite of connectivity services, called Nissan Connect. Customers who use Nissan Connect will benefit from the suite which comprises navigation, safety and convenience features which can be accessed through a smartphone app that is available on all platforms including Android, iOS and Windows.
When it comes to convenience, the Nissan Connect app comes with features that keep records of fuel stops and services done and facilitate service booking. Customers can use the app to locate service stations and dealerships that are close to them.
Connected services include safety features like curfew alert and speed alert. While the curfew alert warns motorists when the car is detected as moving outside preset hours, the speed alert sends notifications when preset speed limits are exceeded. Geofencing informs the owner when the car is taken out of a designated area. As part of Nissan Connect. Nissan is offering motorists roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown or emergency.
Other car manufacturers like Honda and Toyota have rolled out similar smart services in India in tune with the digital lifestyle of the present era.
Commenting on the launch of Nissan Connect, Krishnan Sundararajan, managing director, Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India said that the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) is causing the automotive industry to change its strategy. He said that with Nissan Connect, the company’s aim was to provide an effortless driving experience that seamlessly integrates with its customers’ connected lifestyle while safeguarding the security of the data.
In the short term, Nissan is planning to expand the range of features offered under the Nissan Connect program with other services like tyre pressure monitoring, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle health monitoring, and remote car control. This will help Nissan to differentiate itself from other automakers who are offering similar services. The launch of Nissan Connect services is part of the carmaker’s global Intelligent Mobility plan.
